What Hop keeps, in plain words
Updated 22 October 2026
This page covers Hop’s website, mymeebot.com, and the server behind it: everything the server keeps today, and why.
If you join the waitlist
We keep your email address, the date you signed up, and which version of the sign-up wording you agreed to. We use your email only to tell you when Hop lands.
To stop spam, the server counts sign-up attempts under a scrambled code made from your connection and your email. It never stores your IP address.
If you use the Hop app
The app can send the server three things: a random ID it made for itself when installed, the push token Apple gave it, and which build of Hop it is. No name, no email, no location. We use them only to send silent pings: quiet nudges that wake Hop in the background and show you nothing. Each ping goes through Apple, and we note when it was sent and what Apple answered. If Apple says a token no longer works, we stop using it. Registrations are counted under a scrambled code too, to stop abuse.
Administrators
The admin area is only for the people who run Hop. They sign in with Google, which tells the server their name, email address and Google account ID, and the server checks the email against a short list of administrators. If you are not on the list, you are turned away and nothing about you is kept. For administrators, the sign-in is kept in a cookie in their own browser, and their email is noted next to each test ping they send.
What we don’t do
- No ads.
- We don’t sell your data or share it for anyone else’s use.
- No tracking, no analytics, and no cookies on the public pages.
- This server keeps no location.
Who else is involved
Google, only for administrators’ sign-in. Apple, to deliver pings to the Hop app. Our hosting provider, which runs the server and its database.
